Any staff change can be anxiety producing and cause even the calmest person to sweat.   This session will help ease your anxiety by explaining the legal requirements of hiring and firing, as well providing practical tips to smooth the process.    On the hiring side, this session will cover such topics as where to advertise, how to sort through the resumes, what questions you should and should not ask the applicants, and how to tell whether what looks good on paper accurately reflects the person's ability to get the job done.  Learn from someone who has conducted numerous searches, what stands out, when to  interview, and the factors that go into making the final decision.  Find out the legal ins and outs of using social media to conduct background investigations and personnel searches.

When it comes to firing, everyone's first question is when should you do it?  Do you wait until the final straw?  Do you let an employee infect the workplace atmosphere to the point where retention becomes a major issue?  Do you terminate the first time an employee violates a major policy?  This session will cover the  documents  you need to have in place when you conduct a termination, and how to create that document trail, as well as how to help an employee who is going down the wrong track stay employed.  We will also cover the termination conversation and the follow up documentation necessary to ensure legal compliance.
